My best friend, I love you and I always will, for as long as God allows me to love. We went to the shelter that August day to find
another dog. And tho Sara didn't realize, after we found you on the website, I had already made my mind, that it was you Avery, we were going
to bring home that day.
Avery loved to go for walks and she loved the water, and the colder the weather the better. It was on a gravel road we went for
our first walk together. I didn't have her on a lead and rarely over the years was she confined to a leash. But that first time Avery, you took off
running and didn't stop for a 1/4 mile. I was afraid you were running away, but you were just so happy to be out of the shelter and running
free.
Everyday coming home from work I could count on your beautiful face in the window watching for me. Avery seemed to know it
was time and would always be looking out the front door window for me. Avery was my partner in prayer. Every morning we would pray
together and give thanks to God for all His goodness.
9-1/2 years after we met, we had to say good bye. We both had many tears in our eyes that last day together and I still feel the
sadness. But I thank you Avery, for loving me and being my friend, for sharing life with me all those years.
Run free in God's kingdom my angel. My friend, one day we will see each other again ... I love you sweetheart.
